The safari Storme competes against the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda CR-V and Ford Endeavour. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox which transfers its power to all the four wheels. Tata Safari Storme is powered by a 2.2 litre diesel engine which produces 150bhp and 320nm of peak torque. Things on the other hand are not as good for the 3 rd row passengers as the bench seats are only suitable for small children. The central row is generously spacious with decent amount of leg and headroom. The steering wheel bears a similar look to the one that we see on the Bolt and Zest. The centre console accommodates standard multimedia system which along with the controls for the air con unit is surrounded by a chrome fitting. The cabin features an overall elegant look with good material quality. The cabin of the Tata Safari Storme features an all-black colour scheme save for the silver highlights on the dashboard, steering wheel and door panels. The twin chrome exhausts incorporated in the bumper provide the back of the vehicle with a little sporty touch. At the back we get a thick chrome stripe running across the boot lid with simple tail-lamps which are devoid of any amount of detailing. Just like always the roof is slightly raised as it flows towards the back to provide the passengers in the 3th row with adequate headroom. The wheel arches along with the lower half of the doors are augmented which gives the SUV a muscular look. The circular foglamps are surrounded by chrome which makes them look elegant but a tad smaller in comparison to the overall grand appeal of the car. At the front we get smart looking wing shaped sweptback headlamps and a honey comb grille in between them which is marked by a thick chrome strip on top with ‘STORME’ written across it. There is not much that has changed in term of Safari’s external design structure part from certain changes in order to make the vehicle look modern and contemporary. Tata is continuously trying to regain Safari’s lost charm with makeovers and facelifts but it looks like that it is time we see a new vehicle in order to replace and carry forward Safari’s legacy. The vehicle was able to hold strong to its ground for a long time until recently when the sales started to go down due to the introduction of new competition in the market. Tata Safari has been India’s favourite SUV since it was first launched way back in 1998. The transmission duties are carried by all new 6-speed manual transmission gear box whereas the lower variants continue to get 5-speed manual transmission gear box. Moreover, VariCOR 400 is the major underscore of this newly launched Tata Safari Storme which is powered by a same 2.2L, 4-cylinder that produces 156PS of power at 4000rpm and torque of 400Nm at 1750-2500rpm. It is available in 7 variants, 2179 cc engine option and 1 transmission option : Manual. Home grown auto giant, Tata Motors launched the more-powerful Tata Safari Storme, namely the Tata Safari Storme VariCOR 400 at INR 13.52 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) which is available in the top-trim VX variant only. Tata Safari Storme 2019 is a 7 seater SUV with the last recorded price of 10.97 - 16.35 Lakh.
